London in Springtime

Woke up to a beautiful sunny day here in London. Spring has arrived here and most trees are in full leaf, plus lots of trees in blossom and spring flowers everywhere. After a tube ride to Paddington Train station to exchange some train tickets, we headed to Westminster. We viewed what we could of Big Ben and the Parliament buildings, that were mainly covered with scaffolding, due to refurbishing. In the afternoon we toured the beautiful gothic Westminster Abbey, which records incredible history and exhibits amazing architecture. As you enter the Abbey, audio guides are provided which we felt enhanced our visit. We also visited the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries which is located high above the Abbey. From the Galleries you get an amazing view of the Abbey floor 16 meters below and also out to the Parliament buildings and the Palace of Westminster. Unfortunately, no photos are permitted to be taken in the Abbey or the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries.

In the evening we enjoyed a delicious Indian meal close to our B&B.
